Aim and Scope
Aim
The primary aim of JSCCAH is to advance multidisciplinary understanding and applied practice in competitive and elite sports. The journal emphasizes integrative approaches that balance rigorous physical and tactical preparation with comprehensive load monitoring, injury risk reduction, and proactive health maintenance.
Scope and Thematic Areas
JSCCAH welcomes original empirical investigations, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, consensus statements, and methodological studies across the following core thematic clusters:
- Sports Coaching and Elite Performance
- Tactical and Technical Match Analysis: Notational analysis, tracking data, game-speed metrics, and sport-specific tactical modeling.
- Periodization and Training Methodology: Long-term athletic development (LTAD), micro- and macrocycle modeling, tapering, and peak performance planning.
- Exercise and Performance Physiology: Bioenergetics, neuromuscular adaptations, cardiovascular responses to acute training stress, and altitude/heat acclimation.
- Applied Sport Psychology: Mental toughness, emotional regulation, coach-athlete relationships, decision-making under pressure, and performance readiness.
- Athletic Conditioning and Load Management
- Strength and Conditioning (S&C): Velocity-based training (VBT), plyometrics, force-velocity profiling, and sport-specific power development.
- Internal and External Load Monitoring: GPS/accelerometer metrics, heart rate variability (HRV), session-RPE, wellness tracking, and biochemical load markers.
- Fatigue Profiling and Recovery Science: Post-exercise recovery modalities (cryotherapy, hydrotherapy, compression gear), sleep monitoring, and neuromuscular fatigue tracking.
- Athlete Health, Therapy, and Injury Prevention
- Injury Epidemiology and Risk Mitigation: Screening protocols, biomechanical movement screens, eccentric overload strategies, and secondary injury prevention protocols.
- Sports Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy: Return-to-play (RTP) decision frameworks, functional progression protocols, and post-injury functional restoration.
- Sports Nutrition, Hydration, and Metabolism: Energy availability, Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (REDs), micronutrient optimization, ergogenic supplementation, and body composition manipulation.
- Athlete Long-Term Welfare: Female athlete health considerations, youth athlete preservation, overtraining syndrome diagnosis, and holistic athlete care frameworks.
