Aim and Scope

Journal of Public Engagement in Applied Science, Technology, and Education (J-PASTE) focuses on scholarly reports and studies derived from community engagement and community service programs that apply science, technology, and education to address societal needs. The journal promotes the translation and application of academic knowledge, technological solutions, and educational innovations into community-based practices that contribute to empowerment, capacity building, and sustainable development.

Scope

J-PASTE welcomes manuscripts addressing, but not limited to, the following areas:

  1. Applied Science for Community Development
    Application and dissemination of scientific knowledge to address practical problems and improve community welfare.
  2. Technology and Appropriate Technology
    Development, adaptation, implementation, and evaluation of technologies designed to meet community needs.
  3. Engineering and Technological Applications
    Application of engineering principles, tools, systems, and technological solutions in community settings.
  4. Digital Technology and Digital Transformation
    Digital literacy, information systems, digital platforms, artificial intelligence, and other digital solutions supporting community development.
  5. Education, Training, and Community Learning
    Community education, educational innovation, literacy programs, professional and vocational training, and capacity-building initiatives.
  6. Health and Community Well-being
    Community-based health promotion, preventive programs, physical activity, nutrition education, and initiatives supporting community well-being.
  7. Environmental Sustainability and Conservation
    Waste management, renewable energy, environmental education, conservation, climate adaptation, and sustainable resource management.
  8. Agriculture and Rural Development
    Application of science and technology in agriculture, food production, rural innovation, and sustainable livelihood development.
  9. Entrepreneurship and Local Economic Development
    Community entrepreneurship, micro and small enterprise development, product innovation, digital marketing, and strengthening local economic capacity.
  10. Community Empowerment and Capacity Building
    Programs designed to strengthen community knowledge, skills, participation, independence, and institutional capacity.
  11. Disaster Preparedness and Community Resilience
    Community-based disaster education, risk reduction, preparedness, mitigation, and resilience-building programs.

J-PASTE particularly welcomes manuscripts that clearly describe community needs, stakeholder participation, program or intervention methods, outcomes, impact, sustainability, and lessons learned. Manuscripts should demonstrate a clear application of science, technology, or education within a community engagement or community service context.
