Author Guidelines

Before preparing and submitting article manuscripts, please note that author(s) are discouraged from withdrawing submitted papers after they are in the publication process (review, copyedit, layout, etc.). During the time, Journal of Physical Activity and Sport Technology Engagement (J-PASTE) has spent valuable resources besides the time spent on the process.

Journal of Physical Activity and Sport Technology Engagement (J-PASTE) accepts the following types of community service and engagement papers:

  1. Community Service Articles (up to ~5000 words) report the implementation of physical activity and sport technology programs in community settings. Articles should describe needs analysis, program design, methods of implementation, technology utilization, outcomes, impact evaluation, and sustainability of the program.
  2. Program Reports present innovative practices in empowering communities through physical activity, exercise, and sport technology. Reports emphasize practical solutions, technology transfer, community participation, and measurable impacts on health, fitness, and sport engagement.
  3. Best Practice Reviews describe successful models of community engagement in physical activity and sport technology, highlighting lessons learned, challenges, and recommendations for wider adoption.

The Manuscript General Guidelines

The manuscript text's general guidelines are as follows:

  1. The manuscript must report authentic community service or engagement activities that have not been published in other media.
  2. Manuscripts are written in English;
  3. The manuscript follows the journal template using A4 paper, margins left 4,4 cm, right 4,4 cm, bottom 5,2 cm, top 5,2 cm, Times New Roman 10pt, 1 spacing.
  4. Length of 3,000–5,000 words including figures, tables, and references.
  5. The manuscript must be free from plagiarism. Similarity checking is applied to all submissions.
  6. The manuscript consists of: Introduction; Methods of Implementation; Results and Impact; Discussion; Conclusions and Recommendations; References.
  7. Title should clearly represent the community service program and its impact.
  8. Author names followed by affiliation and e-mail address;
  9. Abstract in English (max 250 words) containing objectives, methods of implementation, outcomes, and impact;
  10. Keywords 3–6 words related to physical activity, sport technology, and community engagement;
  11. Manuscript must follow the provided template;

The Guidelines for the Manuscript Body Text

Title should be informative, reflecting the implemented program, target community, and technology or physical activity intervention.

Author Details: All contributing authors involved in planning, implementing, and evaluating the program must be listed.

Abstract: Maximum 200 words including program background, community problems, methods of implementation, main outcomes, and impact.

Introduction: Contains community problem analysis, baseline conditions, relevance to physical activity and sport technology, and objectives of the program.

Methods of Implementation: Describes the target community, stages of activities, applied technology, partnership model, instruments, and evaluation techniques.

Results and Impact: Presents outcomes of activities, community participation, behavior changes, performance improvement, or technology adoption supported by data, tables, or figures.

Discussion: Explains the meaning of results, comparison with similar programs, success factors, obstacles, and sustainability.

Conclusion: Summarizes program achievements, benefits for the community, limitations, and recommendations for future engagement.

Acknowledgement: Funding bodies, partners, and community institutions.

References: At least 70% from recent scientific journals related to physical activity, sport science, and technology.

The Guidelines for the Citations and References

References are managed using software such as Mendeley, EndNote, or Zotero, in APA 7th Edition style.

Figures

Figures should represent program activities, technology application, and impact evaluation with high-quality resolution.

Tables

Tables present community data, evaluation results, and performance indicators.

The Online Submission Manuscript Guidelines

  1. Submit through the Online Submission system.
  2. Register as author in the Register menu.
  3. Follow five submission steps: Start – Upload – Metadata – Supplementary – Confirmation.
  4. Choose appropriate Journal Section for community service.
  5. Upload manuscript in MS Word format.
  6. Complete metadata including program location and partners.
  7. Upload supporting documents (MoU, activity evidence).
  8. Click Finish Submission.
